Job Description:

The Han laboratory within the Department of Aging and Geriatric Research studies how neurons maintain their function and affect animal healthspan. The OPS Laboratory Technician position will facilitate the research conducted in the Han Laboratory by performing various lab specific tasks.

To study how the neurons maintain their function and affect animal healthspan we mainly use the genetic model organism C. elegans because of its simple nervous system and powerful genetic tools. We utilize multiple approaches including molecular genetics, lifespan, laser microsurgery, fluorescence imaging, genomics, and worm genetics.

To facilitate the research program in the Han lab, we are seeking a full-time technician.

Lab duties for the qualified technician include:

- preparing worm culture plates, buffers and solutions,

- managing work flow and supplies in the lab,

- freezing worm strains,

- autoclaving,

- other related duties as needed to actively participate in research projects under the guidance of the PI and/or postdoctoral fellows.

Expected Salary:

$12-$14 hourly; commensurate experience and education

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

College degree or some college in a relevant field; relevant laboratory experience.
