The Annually Contracted Faculty member creates, manages and participatesin a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunitiesfor students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learningobjectives. The Annually Contracted Faculty member participates collaborativelyand professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the generalwell-being of the department and the college and of the collective andindividual interests of its staff and student body. The contracted facultymember supports and seeks ways to fulfill the guiding concepts for the Collegeembodied in the philosophy, mission, values and vision adopted by the Board ofTrustees. This position description is in association with the AnnuallyContracted Faculty contract.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Instruction and Student Learning
Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primary responsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum in conjunction with the Department’s policies, ensuring both the rigor of programs and the quality of instruction. Considers individual differences of students in order to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities. Participates in the identification of students with academic or other needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource. Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology. Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance with the Faculty Handbook and departmental policies.
Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades timely, and in accordance with established policies and procedures of the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as other relevant information to students throughout the semester. Create and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements. Participates in the selection of appropriate materials to support course curriculum in accordance with the College’s guidelines. Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule. Employs and assists in the design and development of appropriate assessment techniques to measure students’ performance in achieving course goals and objectives. Be a facilitator of learning in a digital environment.
The intent of this position is for the faculty member to primarilyprovide instruction for College Algebra through Calculus II in a high schoolenvironment as part of our dual enrollment program.
Student Engagement and Advisement
Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners. Maintains posted office hours in accordance with departmental and policies of the College. Uses technology to assist in communication with students. Encourages a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Advises potential or current students within the discipline about the program, career, or transfer options available to assist with degree completion. Refers students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.
Promotes continual improvement as part of the cycle of teaching and learning by: assisting, as appropriate, in the maintenance of instructional materials and laboratory facilities; contributing, as appropriate, to the development, selection, and improvement of instructional materials, laboratories, and other instructional facilities; providing guidance in the development, maintenance, and design of course description, course outlines, and syllabi; recommending modifications to the curriculum and participating in the design of new curricula.
Completes all mandatory performance evaluation measures within specified time limits and participates in all required training by the College. Shares best practices with colleagues in formal or informal settings. Participates in instructional, departmental, or institutional research to improve educational effectiveness. Evaluates teaching and assessment practices to continue improving them.
Provides feedback, as appropriate, regarding the general operations of thedepartment, division and the College. Provides advice and/or assistanceto faculty within the department, division, or College. Attends facultymeetings as called by the President, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs,Dean or Department Chairperson; and participates, as appropriate, ondepartmental and divisional committees.
Employs student, administrative and self-appraisals to establish goals andobjectives for professional development, and participates in professionaldevelopment activities. Contributes, as appropriate, to the planning,evaluation, and/or presentation of college professional development programs.
Maintains required professional credentials, licensing, and continuing education hours as disciplinary standards dictate.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Provides consultative assistance to and advises, as appropriate, student organizationsand groups. Contributes to the community and/or the profession as arepresentative of the College. Participates in local, statewide, or nationallevels in the advancement of the discipline and/or the two-year collegemission. Works a varying schedule, including nights & weekends to meetdepartmental needs. Must be available to teach on-site at the Columbus Campusand travel to area high schools, as needed, to staff dual enrollment/CollegeCredit Plus classes. *Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance isrequired. *This position is an annually contracted position.

The employee regularly sits, stands and walks for extended periods of time. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Employee occasionally reaches with hands or arms, climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 10 pounds.
Typical office and classroom environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: digital course development and delivery; on-line instruction techniques and methods computers, software, including cloud applications, to include Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Blackboard; internet research instructional best practices; global issues and a genuine curiosity for societal and world affairs, specifically in higher education. Skill in: strong verbal and written communications; maintaining good public relations; customer service; creative problem-solving; excellent judgement; conflict resolution; general typing; application of job software programs; course design and development; digital course development and delivery; social media; providing quality instruction, including active and collaborative teaching techniques, and support to a diverse student body; learning technologies and use of multi-media technology to enhance student learning; instructional planning and presentation; incorporating critical thinking, effective communication, and other general education outcomes in course content. Master's in Math or Statistics or a Master's in arelated field with 18 semester hours of graduate level coursework in math or statistics. Two years of teaching experience. State Motor Vehicle Operator's Licenseor demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
