Position Highlights:

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) at The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix invites YOU to join the team as the Coordinator, Diversity & Inclusion Outreach position! This team member will work closely with faculty, students and staff to collaborate and support various initiatives for recruitment, retention and inclusivity building. This position will assist in the coordination of initiatives, which requires previous program management experience. The Coordinator should be process-oriented, resilient with strong service skills and have a professional manner. Experience collecting and organizing data to support planning and program development is critical.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Recruitment Support:

  • Assist in strategizing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan for Undergraduate Medical School Recruitment and for Graduate Professional School Recruitment.
  • In collaboration with ODI leadership, and the Offices of Admissions and Recruitment, Graduate Education, Faculty Affairs and Development and Human resources, support strategizing and implementing the comprehensive recruitment plan to attract highly qualified diverse applicants and candidates to the College of Medicine – Phoenix via special programs and recruitment activities.

Retention & Inclusivity Building:

  • Collaborate with medical student individuals and groups to facilitate special programs, activities and events that foster student engagement and an inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with faculty and various departments to facilitate special programs and activities and events that foster faculty engagement and an inclusive environment at the College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Coordinate, develop, implement and evaluate Dialogue Sessions with faculty, staff and medical students covering topics related to Diversity and Inclusion, and Coffee Hours with medical students and ODI as an informal gathering to touch base with students. Coordinate, implement and evaluate Town Halls, Healthcare Week, and other special events.

Provide individual medical student assistance for navigating issues and concerns and assist students in building relationships with ODI. Interface with faculty and staff to enhance and build relationships with ODI.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience supporting projects or managing complex schedules.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing excellent customer service (hospitality, tourism, service industries).
  • Experience working with underrepresented, underserved and marginalized students and/or communities.
  • Willing to travel out of state and in-state when University travel policy allows.
