Position Summary:

The UC Irvine Student Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient clinic staffed with licensed primary care physicians, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, physician assistants, registered nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Medical specialists from various disciplines including dermatology, orthopedics/sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and ENT provide on-site consultation on a regular basis. Student Health also offers basic radiology and clinical laboratory services, insurance consultation, and an on-site pharmacy, making SHC a comprehensive and convenient clinic dedicated to serving students.

Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Responsible for supervising the daily management and oversight of the front office operations and providers comprehensive customer service to students as well as administrative clinical support. Responsible for the implementation, and maintenance of the workflows and policy and procedures in relation to front office administration, reception and scheduling.

Compensation Range:

$50,600.00 - $77,100.00

Required:

Minimum three years of experience and/or equivalent combination of education and/or training.

Minimum two years of supervisory experience in a medical administrative office or medical clinic.

Demonstrated experience in exercising independent judgment, tact and diplomacy on sensitive issues; establishes workload priorities to facilitate multiple functions in a constantly changing environment.

Excellent customer service skills.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.

Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling to effectively motivate others.

Skills to evaluate issues and identify resolutions.

Strong service orientation with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

General Knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Proficient in all MS office products including Excel, Word, and Access.

Performing work with frequent interruptions and/or distractions and under conditions of fluctuating workload.

Working knowledge of medical terminology and ability to understanding content of a medical record to sufficiently scan laboratory results, x-ray reports, and other clinical documents in the EMR system.

Ability to interact and communicate effectively and diplomatically with a diverse population of students, staff, and others in a public contact setting.

Working knowledge of Electronic Health Records systems.

Ability to understand and adhere to established appointment scheduling guidelines.

Preferred:

Working knowledge of the organization's processes and procedures, rules and regulations.

Special Conditions Required:

Although position is scheduled Monday - Friday and during traditional work hours, weekends, or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In the case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring or licensure as it applies to the position.

Must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccinations and testing of healthcare employees. This includes but not limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening.

Per UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.
