Essential Functions:
Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral for students.
Oversees all clinical and associated outpatient care services. Works closely with the Director and SHS leadership team to compose and implement policies to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and accepted professional standards.
Assists the Director in establishing goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures to ensure quality medical care. Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness.
Supervises the clinical care of all other physicians and advanced practice providers of the Student Health Service. Supervises clinic staff, medical students, primary care residents, and provides on-call service as scheduled.
Member of the Student Health Service leadership team, providing strategic direction and support to align practices with values and goals.
Assists in managing the program of quality assurance. Ensures physicians and advanced practice providers have continuing medical and other relevant education.
Reviews or provides for the proper review of medical records by the appropriate personnel.
Acts as an advocate for students.
Assists the Director by informing and guiding the University community on issues of public health such as health alerts, epidemics, and immunization recommendations and compliance.
Assists the Director in collaborative efforts with other University departments (such as the University Counseling Center) and administrators to establish policies, procedures, and programming that promotes student health, safety, and advocacy.
Assists the Director in providing oversight of other clinical operations including nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and physicians-in-training.
Assists in overseeing the clinical care of Wake Forest Emergency Medical Services.
Assures appropriate confidentiality policies and procedures within the SHS Clinic.
Serves on University committees and provides leadership as requested.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Possess Advanced Medical Degree (MD, DO, PA, or NP) from an Accredited Medical Program and licensed or eligible in North Carolina.
Appropriate certifications required - MD/DO Board Certification.
Two to three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Possession of a current CPR/BLS certification.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Physician licensed by the NC Medical Board or eligible.
Five or more years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Demonstrated professional practice management experience.
Board certification in a primary care medical specialty.
Experience with AAAHC or similar accreditation for ambulatory care clinics.
Accountabilities:
Responsible for own work.
Supervises clinical staff and trainees.
