Job Summary:

The Title V Grant Success Tutor reports to the Director of Excelencia Center. The Title V tutor coordinates, plans and facilitates collaborative tutoring sessions for grant-eligible students. The Success Tutor major duties will include the planning and facilitation of tutoring sessions utilizing collaborative learning methodologies; assist students in development of appropriate study skills; function as liaison to online tutoring resources; maintain consistent communication with supervisor; model appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty and students. Other duties as assigned.

The grant position is for a four-year time period. Title V grant is a five-year grant, 4 years left of the grant, awarded by the Department of Education.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university.

At least one year of experience in a high school or higher education setting as a faculty member or in a student services role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as an academic tutor in a secondary/post-secondary setting.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Knowledge of current technology and basic computer programs
Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to communicate with students, faculty and staff in professional manner.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
Ability to promote a positive campus image.
Ability to follow established college policies and procedures.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly carry up to 25 pounds, and lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent local travel.
