Position Summary :

POSITION SUMMARY
Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports utilizing appropriate accounting procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Assist the Financial Services accountants in maintaining the financial records of the College including creating and recording journal entries, review of daily computer generated reports, account/department analysis and/or reconciliations.
2.Assist in interpreting and implementing accounting procedures/controls for continuous process improvement and to insure the College’s financials are operating in accordance with accounting and board policies.
3.Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy.
4.Assist in the preparation of any necessary regulatory reporting.
5.Assist with the review of college departmental operations to seek out deficiencies and identify improvements to develop best practices and to find ways to run efficiently.
6.Prepare, monitor, and adjust budgets and assist in the College’s annual budgeting process.
7.Assist with maintaining the College’s capital asset records.
8.Assist the Financial Services accountants in the preparation of the required monthly reports for the Board of Trustees meetings.
9.Use analytical skills to resolve questions or problems that may arise.
10.Provide assistance during the College’s year-end closing process, annual audits, and periodic grant monitoring visits.
11.Attend seminars as needed to keep current with issues related to college financial issues.
12.Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2.Two (2) years of experience with successful accounting and/or bookkeeping.
3.Intermediate personal computer and technology skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with ability to create formulas.
4.Excellent mathematical and computational skills.
5.Ability to apply strong problem solving techniques.
6.Ability to effectively work under minimal supervision.
7.Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, courteous, dependable, and personable with effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Experience with Workday software.
2.Four (4) years of accounting experience
3.Prior experience working in an educational environment.
