POSITION TITLE: Culinary Arts Dishwasher
DEPARTMENT: Culinary Arts
REPORTS TO: Sanitarian and/or CA Dept. Chair

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform dishwashing duties for culinary arts classes.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Assist with the thorough cleaning and stacking of all dishes, utensils.
2.Assist with the thorough cleaning and stacking of all pots and pans.
3.Wash floor, floor mats, clean the floor drains.
4.Break down all boxes and empty the garbage and compost bins. Thoroughly clean garbage receptacles in the dish room and throughout culinary facility.
5.Maintain cleanliness of all dish room area equipment, including but not limited to dish mats, storage cabinets and storage racks, dish return areas, cafeteria and tables.
6.Maintain cleanliness of pot washing areas, kitchen and all other culinary training and working areas in accordance with sanitation methods.
7.Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives.
8.Work with high school students enrolled in food service skills classes.
9.Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Must carry a minimum of 6 credit hours and a 2.0 GPA at JJC and in good standing.
2.Willing to take instruction/learn procedures.
3.People friendly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Courteous, dependable, able to follow both oral and written instructions, and ability to work well with diverse population.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•Ability to move, carry and /or lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
•Must be able to operate standard culinary lab equipment.
•Be able to stand for extended period of times. 4 hour minimum.
•Must maintain a high degree of personal hygiene, appearance and cleanliness.

WORKING CONDITIONS
•Duties are performed indoors in the usual culinary lab/commercial kitchen/dish room environment.
