Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601211 Position Category: Student Services Professional Job Title: Student Loan Coordinator Position Code: 00410X Position Type: Staff Department: Financial Aid Nature of Work: The Student Loan Coordinator administers all phases of student loan processing that include loan transmittal, cancellation of loans, and modification of loans. The Coordinator oversees reconciliation of loan balance utilizing records from the Banner Student Information System and the Common Origination & Disbursement Division of the United States Department of Education (USDOE). Training and Experience: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree (preferably in business, counseling, or a related field) or equivalent business experience (preferably in the certification of student loans)

- Ability to assimilate, comprehend, and determine applicability of legislation and regulations
- Ability to analyze data and other relevant information
- Ability to compile statistical reports and determine trends
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, strong interviewing and public relations skills
- Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, data entry with preference given to a working knowledge of SCT SIS-PLUS or SCT-BANNER and Microsoft products Testing Requirements:Illustrative Examples of Work: - Responsible for the full administration of student loans at ASU, inclusive of certifying Federal Subsidized/Unsubsidized Direct Loans and Federal Parent loans for Undergraduate Students. Also responsible for occasional certification of alternative student loans
- Responsible for the review of Banner batch reports and SQL reports related to student loan processing to ensure quality control
- Responsible for being the primary liaison with guarantee agencies, lenders, and student loan servicers
- Responsible for review, update, and implementation of web-based options for student loan entrance and exit counseling
- Responsible for training of all full-time staff as related to delegated responsibilities particular to student loan processing, inclusive of entrance/exit counseling and delinquency report
- Responsible for remaining current with regulations governing student loan programs (inclusive of the CFR, Federal Student Financial Aid Handbook, Common Manual, and conferences) to ensure compliance with related requirements applicable to student loan programs
- Responsible for providing student loan counseling to students. Responsible for providing student loan information to prospective students and to the public when requested
- Responsible for being cross trained on COD processing to help during periods of absence
- Responsible for assisting other office personnel when assistance is required/requested
