The University of Miami Health Systems has an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Engineer II. The Industrial Engineer I manages and supports initiatives that facilitate and improve the delivery of information technology. This position identifies opportunities for the design of new processes considering different innovative methodologies that will help achieve operational excellence within the University. The incumbent will oversee the coordination of personnel and resources required to successfully complete projects. He/she will work with cross-functional teams to promote best practices in process improvement, process design, and metrics. Analyzes established systems, methods, practices and procedures to evaluate their effectiveness utilizing existing information and make recommendations for improved processes and procedures. Identifies improvement opportunities within a designated initiative, using data and statistical models to support the findings and proposed optimization strategies. Integrates people, equipment, facilities and other resources to improve work results, operating efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and/or adaptation to new requirements. Enhances University processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, and improve sustainability. Develops, and recommends configurations for optimized processes from inception through to start up. Develops and deploys tools and methodologies for process design and optimization throughout the university. Supports different functions by gathering critical data points, and creating KPIs aligned to business goals. Performs root cause analysis on key issues. Drives waste and non-value added activities out of business processes. Participates in future state of process design. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial / Management Engineering, Nursing, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a closely related field
- Master’s Degree preferred
- A minimum of two years of experience using a programming language such Python, R, T-SQL, PL-SQL, SAS, Minitab, and/or other languages that have well developed data analytics packages for supported advanced analytics
- Minimum 3 years experience in healthcare setting, computer science, consulting, lean sigma sic, and.or operational analysis
- A minimum of three years of business management experience with strong clinical operational background performing or managing productivity, finance and/or workforce management projects
- Requires advanced computer skills with a strong knowledge of spreadsheet programs.
- Ability to prepare clinical reporting, provide analysis and run statistical analysis the organization can use to make operational changes, target specific goals and refine processes
