ABOUT US:

MGH Institute of Health Professions is a graduate school in Boston that provides entry-level and post-professional programs in Nursing, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Genetic Counseling, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. Other programs, including a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and a PhD and Master of Science in Health Professions Education, have been added in recent years to meet rising demand for highly educated health care professionals, educators, and researchers.

 

Integrating classroom learning with research and clinical experience, the Institute grants doctoral degrees, master's degrees, awards certificates of advanced study, and offers continuing education to practicing professionals, as well as to baccalaureate-educated individuals entering health care from another field.

 

The IHP is the only degree-granting affiliate in Mass General Brigham (MGB), the largest private employer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Institute has been recognized multiple times by The Chronicle of Higher Education as a “Great College to Work For.” A leading health sciences educational institution, the MGH Institute provides students with outstanding academic programs, many of which are ranked among the best in the nation.

 

GENERAL SUMMARY OVERVIEW:

The MGH Institute of Health Professions, invites nominations and applications for the full-time position of Dean, School of Nursing. The Dean of the School of Nursing serves as its chief academic leader and the administrative officer for the School. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, innovative, student-focused, nursing leader committed to advancing nursing practice and education, as well as someone committed to impacting the discipline and health care through scholarship and leadership. We seek a leader with a passion for nursing, exceptional relational leadership skills, and with strong evidence of commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The current Dean plans to retire in the summer of 2021. The term of office commences upon appointment, which may be as early as June 15, 2021, or later if negotiated. 

 

The search committee will begin active review of candidates starting in January 2021. Nominations are preferred by January 15, 2021. An individual may self-nominate by sending a letter of intent to apply by December 15; the search committee welcomes applications from all interested parties. All nominations and applications will be kept confidential. To be considered as candidates, nominees and applicants should submit statements of interest and CVs by January 15, 2021. Priority will be given to candidates who apply by this deadline. We will continue accepting applications until the role is filled.

Qualifications
In order to fulfill accreditation requirements, nominees and applicants must be a registered nurse (RN) with a graduate degree in nursing and hold a doctoral degree. Significant experience in nursing leadership, education, and scholarship and research appropriate for a Professor at MGH Institute is expected. The search committee will review candidates until a new appointment is made.
