Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations/Advertising, or related field. Two years professional experience in writing, marketing, social media, public relations, event planning. Experience in an academic environment preferable. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Provide vision, leadership, policy development, and management for an integrated marketing program, related communications and events to promote and advance the Newton Gresham Library’s mission and priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Serves as a marketing and communications liaison between the Newton Gresham Library and the University Marketing & Communications department and other university areas. Participates in the development, implementation, and management of the Library’s marketing plan to promote library services and resources internally to students, faculty, and staff, and externally to prospective students, their families, alumni, and the surrounding community. Coordinates and provides professional leadership in developing and maintaining the Library’s social media presence. Creates compelling content for print and online outlets, to promote and support the Library’s priorities and goals. Conducts market research and assesses the effectiveness of marketing & communication efforts. Knowledge of and adherence to all University branding guidelines and Marketing & Communications policies is required. Manages Library events to include planning, organizing, marketing, budgeting, and supervising. Coordinates venues, equipment, speaker invitations, event invitations and correspondence material. Creates event programs, agendas, and promotional literature. Maintains project files, including documentation and correspondence. Schedules professional development for students and staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Requires effective skills in written, oral, and interpersonal communication. Must be proficient in computer usage, especially Microsoft Office Programs. Must be able to form effective relationships both internally and externally. Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision. Must be a take charge professional with the ability to plan and manage logistics and multiple projects in support of the Library. Must work well with people and establish good rapport with all University personnel and maintain contact. May be required to work occasional evening or weekends according to program needs.
