At this pivotal time, Missouri S&T seeks to hire an Executive Director of Development for the College of Engineering and Computing.

Position Summary:

As liaison to the College of Engineering and Computing, the executive director of development will:

  • Coordinate philanthropic strategy for the college and dean and secure major gifts for featured campaign objectives.
  • Manage specialized constituent programs and identify strategic methods to meet objectives collectively.
  • Develop and deliver new proposals, retain a major donor portfolio and travel as necessary.
  • Actively participate in events and/or programs associated with specialized constituents to move donors toward major gifts, enhance development efforts and identify comprehensive objectives for collaboration while eliminating duplication and streamlining resources.
  • Serve as a member of the Development leadership team.

Supervision Received:

General supervision is received from the Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing.

Supervision Exercised:

Administrative supervision is exercised over professional staff including fundraisers.

Minimum QualificationsA Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years' of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, finance, public relations or related field.

Minimum of seven years of experience in a related field.

Proven experience and demonstrated success in campaign management and fundraising, including major gift solicitation in higher education, is required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a willingness to travel.
  • Broad understanding of multifaceted campaign planning, implementation and management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of successfully managing current and prospective donors at the major gift level.
  • Outstanding social skills, interpersonal skills, discretion and judgment.

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious professional who values integrity and a collaborative working environment. They must have a history of establishing strong, interpersonal relationships with academic leaders, donors and development team members. A working understanding of a research university environment is helpful, along with the polish and enthusiasm necessary to engage with donors on behalf of the university.
