Summary of Duties:

The Bartley Lab in the Washington State University Institute for Biological Chemistry (https://ibc.wsu.edu/laura-bartley/) seeks a postdoctoral researcher to take the lead in understanding the genetic and environmental influences on switchgrass biomass/cell wall composition in an exciting interdisciplinary Department of Energy-supported project aiming to optimize switchgrass production for a sustainable bio-economy. The position will 1) contribute to gathering and analyzing large-scale genetics and genomics datasets to develop hypotheses 2) using molecular genetics to examine candidate genes in switchgrass and their influence on cell wall properties and 3) have the opportunity to interface with a national team to understand cell wall determinants of plant physiology and ecology.
The position is initially available for one year, with additional appointment periods dependent on satisfactory progress. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in a biological science or related field, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and leadership skills with an ability to work in teams and mentor students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Skillsets that will be utilized and developed include molecular genetics, cell wall analysis, plant physiology, microscopy, and data analytics.
