NoSummary of Duties:
The Computer Systems Administrator is to operate within the College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Information Systems (VIS), and provide administration and support for production Linux and Windows Servers and applications, network, and security management. This support is provided on all Linux servers and relevant Windows Servers supported by Data Systems and Operations group within Veterinary Information Services. Primary responsibly to Information systems of Washington Animal Disease and Diagnosed Laboratory.
The scope is wide-ranging and includes responsibility for college-wide Linux and Windows Server operating systems and servers. This position has shared impact on results and has directed freedom to act as required to maintain expected service levels.
Physical eligibility and understanding of BSL-2 laboratory safety guidelines and work environment is required.Additional Information:

A Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years professional experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.Additional Requirements:
Relevant experience must include at least two years’ journey level systems administration of enterprise production Linux servers, scripting, and automation.
Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
Ability to analyze complex issues, conduct thorough and appropriate fact finding inquiries, reason logically, and articulate sound solutions.
Experience with scripting, task automation, and virtual infrastructures.
Advanced proficiency with Linux systems administration.
Proficiency with Windows Server systems.

Periodic travel to Puyallup to support the Avian Health and Food Safety Laboratory, seminars, conferences, and manufacturer’s presentations may be required (typically 2 times a year).
Position requires rotating responsibility outside of normal working hours, and may require carrying a cell phone for emergency and after hours contact for systems problems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality to protect the privacy of laboratory test results to the extent allowed by law.Preferred Qualifications:
Enterprise level experience administering any or all of the following production systems:
•Linux CentOS 6 and 7.
•Proficiency with Windows Server administration.
•Experience with KVM virtual environment
•Apache web services.
•PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL
•PowerShell, Perl, bash, puppet, Nagios, LATEX, ruby, PHP, Python
•Medical systems such as: VetStar, VADDS, Merge PACS, Fuji Synapse, RIS, or others.
•Active Directory, System Center, IIS, Hyper-V virtual environment.
•Network and firewall configuration.
•Experience designing and deploying cloud-based solutions.
