The Student Financial Aid Manager has primary responsibility for financial aid, scholarships, and debt management programming for students on the WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus (including Yakima). This position will manage day-to-day operations of financial aid, including: planning, directing, and facilitating financial services programming; training and advising of staff; scholarship administration; financial aid packaging processes; management of campus work study; collaboration with regional campuses; and client services in areas of contact, advising and guidance of students, faculty, staff, and parents throughout the student life cycle. The position is responsible for the supervision and training of the Financial Services Coordinator.
This position will also be responsible for management of a robust debt management program, including loan counseling and financial literacy programs. Position duties and responsibilities will be performed in support of the office and university vision, mission, values, and goals.Additional Information:

Located in the University District along the riverfront in downtown Spokane, WSU Spokane is the University’s health sciences education and research campus. The campus is home to the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, who welcomed its charter class in August 2017. The University has relocated all of its health sciences disciplines and built new facilities on the campus in recent years. Among the new construction: an $80 million Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences Building and a $34.6 million Nursing Building. Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.Additional Requirements:
Two years of full-time experience in a professional higher education environment with financial services experience.
Demonstrated experience providing financial aid counseling (Federal, State, institutional and private funding) to undergraduate and graduate student populations .
Demonstrated excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience presenting to small and large groups.
Demonstrated experience providing outstanding customer-focused advising in a fast-paced team environment.
Demonstrated proficiency with computer software skills, including databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and familiarity with student information systems.
Demonstrated experience monitoring and implementing financial services rules and regulations.
Demonstrated experience developing and updating policies and procedures. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license by time of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
Additional two years of full-time experience in a professional higher education environment managing financial aid services programs.
Demonstrated experience providing financial aid services to students on a health sciences campus.
Demonstrated experience with high debt student borrowers within the health professions field.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations within a higher education setting.
Demonstrated experience using PeopleSoft within a financial aid and scholarship setting.
