Summary of Duties:

Operate farm and field equipment for the Regional Vegetable program. Responsible for maintenance of equipment and performing a variety of skilled duties such as planting, care, and harvesting of crops. Application of crop protection materials. Plant, fertilize, irrigate and record information to produce and process seeds and crops.

This is a 10 month appointment from the months of February through November.

$2,599.00 + DOE

Required Qualifications:

Two years of experience in farm work or maintaining livestock; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate work activities in a timely and efficient manner.

Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and essential software including word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid driver’s license by time of hire.

Must be able and willing to travel with occasional overnight stays at alternative sites.

Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, a Washington State Certified pesticide Applicator’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with field-based agricultural research.

Skills in collecting field data and associated computer use. Demonstrated effective communication skills.
