Position Overview:
Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.
The position calls for teaching at the undergraduate level in a variety of formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online as appropriate). Primary academic instruction will focus on teaching students the fundamentals of audio/visual production and television news production. Preferred candidates will have experience in teaching introductory television production, media production, corporate video or film, video editing, and be familiar with a wide range of media production practices and tools, as well as previous experience in mentoring students. Preferred candidates will have college teaching experience, media-industry production experience, and a commitment to university service and public outreach.

The College of Liberal Arts currently has 113 full-time and 152 part-time faculty in 8 academic departments. The College serves the University's Core Curriculum programs and enrolls more than 2,850 undergraduate students and more than 300 graduate students in 34 undergraduate and 17 graduate majors. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Responsibilities include teaching four classes per semester (fall and spring) that totals 24 credits. The candidate will be expected to work on departmental, college and university committees, participate in professional activities, and actively pursue a substantive agenda for scholarly/creative work. The candidate will be expected to participate in student productions and work with student media.
QualificationsExperience Required:
Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.
A Masters in Mass Communication or appropriate field required; ABD or terminal degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years professional media experience or equivalent teaching experience is required.
Experience Preferred:
Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of high-quality teaching, both face-to-face and online; strong background in broadcast media; relevant professional work experience; and engagement of best practices trends in news and digital journalism.
