The University of Miami Health Systems has an exciting opportunity for an EKG Technician at UTower. The EKG Technician conducts recordings of electromotive instant variation in heart muscle of patient using electrocardiograph to provide information for diagnosis of all heart ailments. Schedules patients for procedures and maintains logging and scheduling systems. Moves electrodes along particular areas of the chest to record electromotive variations happening invarious heart muscle areas. Explains testing procedures to patients. Makes preliminary analysis and interpretation of test results to facilitate physicians’ study and diagnosis. Attaches electrodes to chest, legs, and arms of patient, and connects electrodes to ECG machine. Monitors electrocardiogram for normal and abnormal patterns.8.Attaches electrodes of electrocardiograph or holter monitor to patient to record information overextended period. Edits and forwards final test outcomes to attending physician or healthcare professional to analyze and interpret data. Performs assessments on patients of various conditions and ages considering the physical and physiological needs of every patient.

Education/Credentials/License/Certifications & Work Experience:

Formal Education:

  • High School Diploma required

Vocational/Technical School Training:

  • Approved EKG Program in Non-Invasive CVT


  • Current CPR certification
  • Certified cardio graphic technician within 3 months of hire
  • CCI Certification for full-time and part-time required.
  • CCI eligible to pass exam within 1 year of hire date

Work Experience:

  • One year experience working as EKG tech in a hospital setting preferred
