Job Description

Looking for a new career opportunity in Human Resources at NAU? We are looking for eager, ambitious change agents to join the brand new service teams and help implement a new model for service delivery.

The Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Intermediate or Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Senior will work with service recipients to proactively support unit talent acquisition by managing employment programs, procedures, and processes. Sources, screens, and may interview candidates. May assist with developing candidate sourcing campaigns and programs. Conducts research and analyzes data related to talent acquisition.

Responsibilities include:

  • Receives and responds to questions from hiring managers, applicants, and candidates to facilitate navigation of HR talent acquisition processes, procedures, and programs.
  • Initiates and facilitates appropriate processes related to position creation, job posting, candidate screening, hiring and onboarding to promote timely, effective filling of positions.
  • Prepares and collects required supporting documentation and approvals for HR processes to ensure adherence with internal controls and external requirements (e.g., NAU, ABOR, state, federal, etc.).
  • Works directly with assigned clients to recommend talent acquisition strategies.
  • May provide assigned units with basic data analysis and reporting to support effective decision-making.
  • Engages candidates through multiple channels to enhance candidate experience.
  • Coordinates and oversees interview and screening processes to ensure fair and compliant practices.
  • Assists with the implementation of HR policies, processes, procedures, and programs to promote effective, consistent utilization.
  • In conjunction with supervisor, recommends and implements process improvements and new procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of key transactions for such flows as staff hiring process, faculty hiring process, student hiring process, etc.

Additional responsibilities for Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Senior

  • Performs all of the above duties with more autonomy.
  • Manages and tracks key tasks and workloads across the team to ensure that they are assigned correctly and the work is distributed evenly.
  • Helps to write and place job postings on approved media outlets to attract potential candidates.
  • Serves as a liaison for management and key stakeholders in service recipient departments.
  • Trains hiring managers and others involved in the hiring process on recruitment processes to support legal and organizational policies, and best practices in evaluating and selecting applicants.
  • Consults with and advises departments on more complex recruitment processes. May facilitate discussions to gain consensus on hiring decisions.
  • Conducts analysis of reports and trends to determine how to improve hiring practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Intermediate

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management, or related field, AND
  • 2-4 years of experience performing human resources related duties, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Senior

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management, or related field, AND
  • 3-5 years of experience performing human resources related duties, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Human Resources experience in higher education, or other public employer.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, Talent Acquisition, or similar certification.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Intermediate

  • Salary $45,000 - $51,000.

Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Senior

  • Salary $48,000 - $54,000.

Commensurate with experience.

**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.


This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU.

Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date.
