The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Neuropathology. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic Pathology/Neuropathology and eligibility for an unrestricted PA medical license are required.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents and fellows.

Clinical responsibilities may include participation in sign-out, intraoperative consultations (frozens), call, and attending rotations on the surgical and medical neuropathology service, which includes muscle and nerve biopsies, telepathology and consults.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting and further developing a translational program in brain tumors.

The successful applicant will have clinical expertise in surgical neuropathology and genetics of brain tumors, intraoperative consultations and further clinical expertise across all areas of Neuropathology, surgical and medical, including muscle and nerve biopsies and telepathology.

The successful applicant will have publication record in the field of brain tumors and experience in collaborative, interdisciplinary research especially with radiology and neurosurgery. Prior experience validating new immunohistochemical and molecular testing for clinical use is highly desirable. Knowledge of neuropathological investigations using AI/machine learning is desirable.
