The research will be conducted in the Wang lab ( thatis located in the Ken and Blaire Mossman Building on the campus of theUniversity of Tennessee, Knoxville. The postdoc will be compensated based onNIH guidelines, with a full benefits package from the University of Tennessee.

Programmed DNA elimination is adevelopmental process in which portions of the genome are reproduciblyeliminated. This process occurs in the single-cell ciliates as well as indiverse eukaryotes. During DNA elimination in nematodes, the chromosomes break, some chromosome fragments are lost, and new chromosomes are formed. Areas underinvestigation in the lab include 1) how break regions are identified and how thebreaks are generated, 2) how broken DNA ends are repaired during DNAelimination, and 3) the contributions of epigenetic factors including histonemodifications, 3D genome organization, and non-coding RNAs to DNA elimination.
