Position Summary

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure-system faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2021. Candidates must have appropriate academic background and a doctoral degree at the time of appointment.

The Department invites applications from highly motivated individuals who can complement the mission, expertise and current strengths of the department in teaching, research and service. Applicants from all areas of civil and environmental engineering are encouraged to apply, however the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate training sufficient to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in reinforced concrete and bridge design. The candidate will be also expected to develop a nationally recognized research and teaching program. All areas of research specialization will be considered, but preference will be given to those that are complimentary to existing strengths, and there is a special interest in uncertainty, risk analysis and reliability. The CEE department has an overall research focus on sustainability and current faculty members have interests in: resilient materials and infrastructure; transportation systems and safety; water resource systems; environmental health; and water quality engineering.

Minimum Requirements

• Doctorate in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely-related engineering discipline
