Lake Forest College invites applications for a temporary position of COVID Testing Clinic Staff. A small, private liberal arts institution located just 30 miles north of Chicago, Lake Forest College enrolls approximately 1,500 students from more than 40 states and from more than 70 countries. Position Summary

This position provides COVID-19 testing services at the Lake Forest College’s testing clinic for students, faculty, and staff. Staff in this position will be provided full personal protective equipment in order to safely complete the duties of educating patients about self-administered specimen collection and processing the test kits. The tests will be analyzed on site (in the case of rapid antigen tests) or at a local lab (in the case of PCR tests). The testing clinic staff may also occasionally participate in logging the test results in spreadsheets and reporting them out as instructed. The position(s) are full-time, typically Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm with rare exceptions, and begin on December 28. This position is a term position through the end of May 2021.

Job Responsibilities

  • Escort Lake Forest College community members through COVID-19 testing protocols. Verify correct identification, uphold social distancing guidelines, and teach technique for self-collection of a sample of respiratory mucosa for testing. Monitor for appropriate sampling and collect specimen from the person.
  • Maintain quality results by following strict collection protocols, and process the test kits as instructed.
  • Assist with tracking collected specimens with proper documentation, maintaining daily tallies of collections performed, and documenting tests results in a computer database. Properly identify positive cases and notify appropriate supervisor per testing clinic protocols.

Qualifications  

  • High school or equivalent required
  • Immunization records up to date
  • Experience: One year in a medical laboratory or patient care
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Experience in health care such as: Phlebotomy Technician (PBT / CPT), Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Clinical Lab Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA), Medical Assistants (MA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedics, Certified Athletic Trainers (CAT), or students in health care degree programs.
