Essential Job Duties:This is a temporary position in CASTLE HAYNE, NC, near WILMINGTON. Please do not apply unless you live near
CASTLE HAYNE, NC or are willing to commute on a daily basis.
Part time research interns are needed to help in all aspects of blueberry breeding research. The interns will work in the
greenhouse and shade house to help maintain healthy plants, inventory, harvest, collect data, perform pollinations, transplant seedlings and rooted cuttings, prune, weed, and fertilize. Field work will include planting, harvesting, and data collection. Laboratory work includes maintaining the tissue culture lab, making media, transferring cultures onto new media, and sticking explants for rooting.
Schedule is largely flexible between 7am to 6pm weekdays and will range from 10-20 hours per week from September through March, and 20+ hours per week from April to August.

-Ability to perform redundant tasks with care and to completion

-Knowledge in plant care
-Knowledge using laboratory equipment such as scales, balances and autoclaves
-Experience with the use and calibration of pH meters
-Knowledge with making dilutions
-Experience with Aseptic techniques
