Job Description

Under the general direction of the Senior Associate Vice President / Controller, this position provides direction to the activities of financial reporting function. The incumbent is responsible for developing strategies and providing personnel and programmatic leadership for the preparation of internal and external financial reports and complex analysis, including, but not limited to annual financial statements, standard financial reports for the Board of Regents, Finance Survey of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), and special requests from the Board of Regents, state agencies, CSN leadership team, and other stakeholders. This position ensures compliance with standard practices, policies and procedures established by the College, NSHE, State of Nevada, and federal agencies.

This position performs essential job duties for month-end and year-end close. It requires consistent and reliable attendance as well as evening and weekend work, particularly during peak accounting and reporting cycles. Its office is located at the North Las Vegas campus.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of full-time professional financial accounting experience
  • 2 years of full-time supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Six or more years of full-time progressive professional experience in financial accounting and reporting, including preparing complex financial statements, footnotes, and supplemental schedules.
  • Demonstrated working experience in analyzing and implementing reporting needs to comply with accounting standards and other guidelines.
  • Demonstrated working experience in managing multiple concurrent projects effectively in a work environment with ever changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, develop, and implement policies and procedures to enhance internal control and financial reporting process.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a diverse work group to produce desired result under strict time constraints.
  • Working knowledge of the governmental accounting principles and the ability to train staff.
  • Working experience with the Workday financial system.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential job functions effectively in a virtual work environment.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, with advanced skill in Excel.
