Description:

Reporting to the Bursar in the Office of the Bursar/Student Accounts, the Associate Director is primarily responsible for all aspects of the collection of delinquent tuition and loan accounts to minimize bad debt exposure. In addition, this position is responsible for creating and managing reports to track the department’s and agency’s performance on delinquent accounts, as well as creating other reports to aid in managing the receivables of the department. This position is an on-site position, work will be preformed on campus.

Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:

Investigating and responding to accounts in dispute
Counseling students on repayment options
Thoroughly reviewing accounts for completeness and federal compliance before sending to a collection agency
Overseeing internal and external collection portfolios
Coordinate processing timelines
Facilitate communication with the agencies, billing servicer
Ensure that deadlines are achieved on all tasks
Supervise the Assistant Director and clerical team members
Act as back up to the Assistant Director on all tuition collections processes
Additional duties as assigned not specifically identified above, but which require the same degree of skills and which are normally included within the above job title

May be required to work additional hours during peak periods. Evening and weekend hours may be required in support of special projects and events.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of Collection’s experience and managing staff are required. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Well organized, detail oriented, motivated, a team player and has demonstrated the ability to independently and effectively prioritize multiple projects and be an effective leader. Candidate will be able to manage high volume and complex situations. Advanced computing skills, including Microsoft Access, are essential. An understanding of Ellucian Banner, ECSI, Touchnet and a solid understanding of procedures, policies and federal/state laws relating to consumer debt collection are desirable.
