The Sharon Walker School of Education at Morningside College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Curriculum and Instruction to begin August 2021 to provide instruction and support for initial licensure and endorsement programs in the unit.  This is a full-time position with the option for a remote appointment.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach primarily graduate students enrolled in Master of Arts in Teaching degree programs leading to initial licensure or additional teaching endorsements, assist with the development of new programs for the unit, provide content oversight for elementary education curriculum and some endorsement programs as qualified, mentor part time faculty.
  • Ideal candidates should demonstrate the qualities of an effective educator, a commitment to implementing high quality education programs that meet and exceed state standards and have significant experience teaching adult learners online.
  • Teaching assignments will primarily include graduate courses in these areas:  foundations of education, curriculum design and assessment, teaching methods, and educational research.
  • Teaching load is 24 credits per calendar year.    

Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction, education, or closely related field, (ABD considered if completion is expected within one year), licensure as an elementary or middle school teacher, and K-12 teaching experience are required.  Candidates who also hold multiple licensure/endorsements in reading, ESL, and talented and gifted are preferred.
