Work schedule to fit Archives hours of operation 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks essential. Adherence to procedures of handling archival materials (training provided). Microsoft Word, Spreadsheets, ability to learn new computer or software systems. Excellent language and spelling skills. Ability to follow directions and communicate. Dependable. Flexible. Helpful: Ability to read cursive writing; previous experience in a similar or related job or environment such as an Archives, Library, or office; interest in History. Follow Library Dress Code and adhere to safe work practices.

Staffing Reason:Work Study
Primary Responsibilities:Assist Archives staff in their duties to provide a variety of services to patrons, process, and provide access to archival materials.
Basic office procedures. Handling of a variety of materials including archival papers, maps, photographs, books and others such as: check in and housing; extensive keyboarding; Xeroxing and scanning for patrons needs; sorting of materials. Input of data into spreadsheets or other applications. Pulling and re shelving of boxes, files, books (Dewey Decimal System) and other materials. Bending, stooping, lifting 20+ pounds, climbing step stool. Filing. Potential access to sensitive/confidential information. Make cash deposits.
Other Information:Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System and alphabetization is required; a proficiency quiz is given at time of interview.
Position is Security Sensitive.
General office conditions including fluorescent lights, exposure to dust.
The Archives of the Big Bend is a department of the Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and make available for research, primary materials documenting the diverse history and culture of the Big Bend and Trans-Pecos region of Texas and the corresponding border area of northern Mexico.
