•Demonstrated ability to successfully lead projects at the divisional level.

Job Description:

The Assistant Vice President, IT Business Operations reports to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO), and is a member of the senior leadership team within the Information Technology (IT) Division. The IT Division is comprised of all central IT and library services. The AVP for Information Technology Business Operations (AVP-ITBO) is responsible for providing leadership for management and coordination of business and administrative affairs for the Division in compliance with University policies and procedures. Oversees management of activities related to budgeting and financial management, operations and programs, and personnel administration for the Division. Ensures consistency between data systems and practice. Oversees budgetary controls, provides complex budget/financial analysis and short- and long-term planning, and is involved with aligning IT resources with the University’s strategic plan and the Division’s operational plan. Provides direct management oversight for IT Business Services, which coordinates internal IT review for all IT-related purchases and contracts for the University.

Job Duties:

•Oversee the management and strategic planning for the IT division’s business operations.
•Develop annual IT budget and allocate central IT and University Libraries’ resources.
•Analyze and recommend cost savings/optimization strategies.
•Fiscal planning for fee accounts, including future fee increases and large infrastructure and/or one-time project expenses. Reserves planning.
•Develop management reports for division’s leadership team.
•Expenditure control, financial monitoring and forecasting for the division.
•Business plan development for service centers.
•Contract administration and vendor management.
•Ensure gift and endowment expenditure compliance in accordance with MOU requirements.
•Planning and coordination of staffing levels and organizational changes within the division.
•Coordinate the periodic review of division compensation plan ensuring proper pay plan relationships.
•Serve as divisional liaison for major projects to assist in mapping divisional resources to project outcomes.
•Lead and manage divisional projects as assigned by the VP/CIO.
•Manage development and maintenance of financial documentation for annual planning activities.
•Oversee completion of external management, benchmarking, and salary surveys for the division.
•Audits and approves invoices for contract payment. Oversees negotiation, administration, and termination of contracts.
• Works closely with the Human Resources department to implement best practices regarding personnel recruitment, retention and professional development for the division.
