Taylor University is seeking applications of candidates for Financial Aid Counselor. This is a full-time, 12 month, exempt position located in Upland, Indiana. Resumes will be accepted until position is filled.
Responsibilities:
- Assists Financial Aid Advisor with telephone calls and walk-in inquiries by providing in-depth information on available aid programs, application procedures, deadlines, and eligibility criteria.
- Presents financial aid information to prospective students and families during campus visits.
- Counsels prospective and current students and parents regarding financial aid matters.
- Collaborates with Admissions staff to determine strategic allocation and utilization of leveraged resources.
- Packages financial aid for transfer, ethnic, international, online and graduate students according to university policy and federal/state regulations. Determines a student’s need/merit for financial aid/scholarship assistance.
- Assists Assistant Director with packaging, professional judgements, and reduction in incomes of undergraduate students.
- Assists Loan Counselor with loan processing.
- Helps students and parents in resolving discrepancies between billing statements and award letters. When necessary, refers students to the Bursar’s Office.
- Follows up with phone calls to prospective students who file a FAFSA but did not file an admissions application and with students who do not respond to emails requesting additional information needed to complete their financial aid package.
- Assists current students with filing the FAFSA. These students include Act Six students, eligible non-citizens, students whose family’s first language is not English, and/or other special circumstances.
- Processes all scholarships from private foundations, other colleges, and other outside organizations.
