Liberty University’s School of Health Sciences invites applicants for a position as Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.
The Director will serve as the academic and operational leader of the program. He/she will be responsible for developing and managing the program’s curriculum, navigating the accreditation process through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy (CAPTE), hiring new faculty, teaching courses, maintaining an active research line, and providing relevant service in line with the mission of the university. The ideal candidate will provide an energetic and enthusiastic approach and will enjoy a great deal of autonomy in developing the program. He/she will have a vision for how the program will develop and prosper over the years, based on his/her experience in the field. A current rank of Professor is preferred, though applicants who hold the rank of Associate Professor will be considered.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
An academic terminal degree in Physical Therapy or related field (i.e., DPT, MD, PhD, EdD, or equivalent)
A license to practice physical therapy in Virginia (or ability to obtain)
Clinical experience as a Physical Therapist
6 years of full time higher education experience and a minimum of 3 years full-time experience in physical therapist education program
Holds the rank of associate professor, professor, clinical associate professor, or clinical professor.
Experience preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining CAPTE accreditation
Administrative experience (e.g., program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting)
An established research line with evidence of the potential for acquiring external funding
A record of scholarship and history of teaching and service.
