Position Description:

The Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University invites applications for one postdoctoral scholar position. The successful applicant will join the newly launched Civil Engineering program of the Ingram School of Engineering and will be supervised by Dr. Xijun Shi. While the position is based in Texas State University located in San Marcos, Texas, the successful applicant will be expected to collaborate closely with research groups at Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Austin. The PI is particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates with demonstrated experimental and modeling expertise in concrete materials with an emphasis on concrete durability and sustainability. The applications from candidates in the field of multifunctional construction materials and pavement systems are also strongly encouraged.

The tasks of the selected candidate include, but are not limited to:
• Carry out research and publish articles in peer reviewed international journals and conferences.
• Help PI develop and maintain research labs
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students from the group
• Support in the preparation of grant proposals and reports

The anticipated start date of the postdoctoral scholar position is September 1, 2021. Funding is available for two years; however, the initial appointment will be for one year and may be extendable depending on the performance.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Experience in leading the preparation of scientific publications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior research experience in academia or industry.
• Experience writing proposals
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
• Self-motivated.
