Job Summary

Lead in consultations with users to identify requirements for software applications in support of processes and business needs. Supervise the development, testing, documentation and implementation of those applications or other technical solutions and the maintenance of existing applications. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: software developers and analysts, project managers, database administrators, customers and department management. This position typically will advise and counsel: software developers and analysts, project managers, database administrators, customers and department management. This position will supervise: applications development staff.

Lead in analyzing user needs and associated level of technical design requirements

Analyze, modify and maintain existing applications

Oversee technical, operational and user related documentation in support of applications

Coordinate communications with vendors when appropriate for problem resolution

Participate in conducting informal and formal end user training

Administer project assignments, oversee staff efforts and provide feedback

Monitor project scheduling and all project tracking control systems

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Six to eight years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred skills include application security methodologies and service oriented architecture

- Experience developing and refining secure software development life cycle
- Experience assisting developers in threat modeling for application development
- Must be able to understand business requirements and work with Business Analysts to understand business requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
- Superior customer service-based work ethic

Preferred Skills

- Experience with SQL, Oracle, PL/SQL
- Experience with Linux or Unix, JavaScript and XML
- Experience with Banner Student Information System

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires supervisory skills as well as skill in communications and project management. Additionally required is advanced knowledge and skills in application of query language, web development tools, procedural development tools, relational databases, structured programming and the software development life cycle.

Other Information

The Application Developer Manager position will be responsible for implementing and maintaining current data and cyber security policy as well as continuous improvement of evolving security needs. This position will also support the Student Information Systems customers as needed.
