Georgia Tech Extension Professionals are research personnel assigned to fulfill the extension service mission of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. This mission includes, but is not limited to, technology-based economic development, technology commercialization and deployment, entrepreneurship, start-up company incubation, and business/industry outreach. Extension Professionals also provide educational programs for business and industry in support of these missions through facilitating and fostering increased industrial engagement and sponsorship of applied research activities at Georgia Tech. Extension Professional appointments are based on the merit and special qualifications of the individual and follow the same general ranking, hiring, and promotion principles as other professional research faculty ranks.

Location

The primary office location can/may be in the metro-Atlanta area however, incumbent in this position may be expected to travel and remain flexible in resposne to client schedules and/or project requirements.

Job Summary

Serving within the Research Faculty of The Institute, this position directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia. Primarily this role oversees the development, selection, and implementation of the pilot program for the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation (PI2). The Partnership for Inclusive Innovation is a public-private partnership launched in 2020 to lead coordinated, statewide efforts to position Georgia as the Technology Capital of the East Coast. Under the leadership of Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, the organization guides efforts and pilot programs to help foster access, growth, entrepreneurship, and innovation throughout the state, with the primary goal of achieving inclusive innovation throughout Georgia. The organization aspires to define Georgia’s entrepreneurial identity as a national leader in technology research, development, and implementation.

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty Extension Professional ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook.

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:
- Manage an approximate $1M+ portfolio of PI2 pilot programs. Assist pilot program owners throughout program life cycle to ensure completion within pre-defined milestones, performance metrics, and communications and outreach plans.
- Help identify and outreach potential pilot owners and projects for proposal development and submission
- Work closely with selected pilot owners and projects to ensure success and scalability
- Create and implement a duplicatable PI2 pilot program selection and outreach process. Work with external consultants to develop an accountable quantitative selection criteria template to analyze pilot proposals.
- Design, develop, and maintain accountability metrics that measure pilot program performance, success, and/or impacts and communicate results to relevant stakeholders.
- Respond to requests for program data and utilize metrics to facilitate the development of recommendations that help resolve potential and/or existing program challenges.
- Promote pilot work and results accordingly
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, Statistics, or related/relevant field.
Skills: Ability to analyze, evaluate, and assess complex information; program/project management experience; and an ability to use independent judgment and communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education: MBA and/or master’s degree in related/relevant field.
Preferred Skills/Work Experience: Seven or more years of job-related work experience including experience developing repeatable business processes that evaluate pilot program proposals, progress, and success (or equivalent combination of education and work experience). Additional preferred applicant backgrounds include (1) Grant-funded program management experience; (2) Established relationships with Georgia communities; (3) Prior experience working in a higher education environment; (4) Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
