DescriptionThis position is responsible for supporting all pre-award activities, ensuring institutional compliance with diverse federal, state, and university rules, regulations, policies and procedures. This position provides high quality support and customer service to faculty, staff and sponsor representatives pursing a sponsored program related to cybersecurity, as assigned by the Executive Director, Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Integrity. This position will serve as a direct support resource to a range of cybersecurity investigators as related to sponsored program proposals. This position will require familiarity with cybersecurity from both a technical (computer science, information technology) and non-technical (management, policy, psychology, risk and audit) perspective as well as the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework categories in order to understand, refine and focus efforts to obtain grants to support this discipline across the campus.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree Two or more years of experience with sponsored programs or research administration Preferred Requirements:Experience working with grants and contracts within an institution of higher education At least 2 years of technical grant writing experience Interest in and awareness of the technical and non-technical aspects of cybersecurity Willingness to learn about the complexities and interdisciplinary nature of cybersecurity Familiarity with the vocabulary and context of cybersecurity Ability to grasp and communicate complex technical topics Familiarity with the interdisciplinary nature of cybersecurity both technical and non-technicalPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks may invlove looking at a computer screen continuously for long periods of time, talking within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

- Review and interpret agency specific guidelines and regulations regarding proposal preparation, provide advice, consultation and expertise to university personnel submitting proposals.
- Assist researchers with identifying specific funding agencies and funding calls for proposals related to their area as it relates to cybersecurity.
- Engage in limited copy-editing.
- Review applications materials for accuracy and completeness, ensure proposals are formatted and assembled in accordance with agency requirements and are compliant with university, sponsor, state, and federal polices and regulations.
- Initiate application packages in agency specific on-line systems as necessary.
- Assist faculty and staff with the preparation of proposal budgets, budget justifications, and corresponding agency forms, certification and assurance, and supporting documentation required by the sponsor, review all material to ensure compliance with RFP, upload proposal documents to on-line systems as necessary.
- Maintain professional communication with principal investigators and others to ensure smooth processes for submitting proposals and accepting awards.
- Communicate with departments, units, PI’s and sponsored program administrators regarding administrative, budgetary and compliance requirements.
- Develop, refine, and perform quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations governing sponsored programs.
- Provide support as requested, such as researching and preparing topic specific training materials.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver activities, including meetings and workshops, in support of training and outreach to support the success of sponsored programs including topics, such as locating funding opportunities, proposal & budget preparation, allowable costs, and compliance with federal circulars.
- Monitor various complex and changing regulations and federal guidance as it applies to sponsored programs administration in order to assist in the interpretation and application relating to pre-award administration of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
- Maintain a working knowledge of cybersecurity from an education, industry and government perspective is this area is constantly evolving, expanding, and becoming more complex.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
