Job Description:Overview:
We are hiring a network administrator to support our multi-campus wired and wireless networks. You will be supporting a wide variety of network technologies, from layer-2 switches to virtualized MPLS routed network environments.
About Us:
We are a small team that is responsible for operating all aspects of the Texas State University campus network. We operate a heterogenous network with equipment from multiple manufacturers such as Cisco, Juniper, HP, and Ruckus Wireless and focus on open networking standards and solutions. We strive to maintain a highly reliable and available network infrastructure for the university community.
About You:
We are looking for someone with a solid foundation of networking skills, who enjoys learning new things and solving problems. You should have strong interpersonal skills and must be able to work collaboratively with a team and interface with end-users and management. You must also be able to work independently with minimal supervision to achieve specific goals and complete assigned tasks and projects.
Work trouble tickets to resolve end-user network problems.
Installation and configuration of campus network switches, routers, wireless access points, and related equipment.
Allocate and assign campus wide network IP address space.
Perform backup and recovery of campus network infrastructure configuration data.
Perform regular administration tasks in support of campus network infrastructure in a 24/7 operations environment.
Install software and firmware updates and security patches.
Produce written documentation for network designs, processes, procedures, configurations, and network diagrams.
Automate network tasks using network management and automation tools and scripting.
Submit support tickets with hardware and software vendors to solve campus network related issues.
Work with vendors until problems are resolved.
Additional Information to Applicants:Normal Workdays are Monday through Friday with On-Call rotation, as needed.
