The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track position in Transportation Engineering. Candidates applying for this position are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a demonstrable research capability that will enable them to develop an externally funded, independent research program and publish in leading scholarly journals. The successful candidate should be prepared to collaborate with colleagues, develop new research initiatives, and participate in ongoing research projects.
The candidate will have a joint appointment with the Nebraska Transportation Center (NTC) which is the umbrella organization for transportation-related research at UNL with an annual research budget of over $5 million. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for significant participation in the research and education initiatives of NTC. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering consists of approximately 31 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 500 undergraduate students, and 130 graduate students with an ABET/EAC accredited undergraduate curriculum and advanced programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees on the Omaha and Lincoln campuses. The successful candidate will be primarily located on City Campus in Lincoln with teaching responsibilities on both Lincoln and Omaha campuses.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely-related field and must have earned a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely-related field prior to the start date of the appointment. In addition, qualified applicants will have expertise in traffic engineering, transportation operations, transportation/geometric design, transportation safety, transportation data science, connected and autonomous vehicles, or smart infrastructure. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to contributing to a culture that supports diversity and inclusion.Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have a BS in Civil Engineering and/or a PhD in Civil Engineering. Preferred candidates should have a strong record of scholarly achievement in the area of traffic engineering, transportation operations, transportation/geometric design, transportation safety, transportation data science, connected and autonomous vehicles, or smart infrastructure. Relevant postdoctoral or industrial experience and strong record of grant applications and funding is preferred.Criminal History Background Check Required:
