Nature of Work:

This position is responsible for the operation of a central stores facility which serves principally as a shipping and receiving center for a variety of special and standard supplies, materials, and equipment. Duties involve maintenance of appropriate control records and considerable contact with faculty and staff. Work also involves maintaining perpetual inventory of supplies and materials and labeling new equipment for capital inventory control. Work is performed with considerable independence according to established procedures and is reviewed by an administrative supervisor primarily through observation of results obtained.

Essential Duties :

  • Receives shipments from vendors; checks for external damage; determines that items received checks to shipping receipt and to purchase order or purchase requisition; signs for shipment; scans packages for proper accounting of receipts & disbursements of shipments, processes and forwards receiving evidence to buyers; delivers or arranges for delivery of received items to ordering department.
  • Responsible for decaling equipment purchased by CCGA, taking pictures of all received equipment, & maintaining records of those inventoried items.
  • Prepares outgoing shipments; loads materials, supplies, tools, and equipment on vehicles; ensures pickup of shipments (returns) from departments to shipping facility. Maintains records of United Parcel shipments to ensure proper departments are charged for services.
  • Maintains Central Stores Inventory of stock as it is received and issued; writes requests for requisitions for replenishment of stock; places items on shelves; fills orders from inventory, maintains receipts, sales, monthly reports, & periodic inventory of stock.
  • Operates computerized record keeping system for both package tracking & Central Stores Inventory; performs routine clerical tasks; maintains filing system.
  • Keeps Central Stores/Central Receiving orderly and disposes of rubbish; exercises caution when receiving, delivering, and storing perishable & hazardous materials.
  • Ensures proper security of materials in storeroom and materials in holding that have been received or are to be shipped.
  • Operates a forklift; drives college vehicles on and off campus; runs errands on and off campus.
  • May participate in taking physical inventories of college assets.
  • Responsible for both incoming & outgoing U.S. Mail at College. This includes properly sorting & delivering incoming mail, as well as pickup, affixing proper postage, & delivery of outgoing mail to U.S. Postal Service mailbox or post office.
  • Serves as a p-card holder, places College p-card orders, maintains Excel worksheet of charges, maintains receipts & all backup for orders, balances monthly statement, and assures compliance with all p-card rules & regulations.
  • May be responsible for ordering supplies through the Board of Regents P-Card system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • This position is designated by the institution as a Position of Trust

Minimum Qualifications and Training:

  • Graduation from high school supplemented by two years of experience in a central stores/receiving environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • P-card eligibility is mandatory for this position so both a clean background and credit check are imperative.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual work in lifting, stooping, bending, pushing, and walking; must have the ability to lift at least 60 pounds; ability to exercise caution with the handling of perishable and hazardous materials

Preferred Qualifications and Training:

  • Knowledge of storekeeping and inventory methods and of property and equipment control.
  • Ability to perform clerical work and to make mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to input and retrieve data and to generate reports on a computerized inventory system.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, to anticipate needs, and to remain calm when multiple priorities arise.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, officials, and vendors.
  • Up to date forklift certification

Work Hours:

M-F 8am - 5pm
