The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Endocrinology has an opening for a full-time (unclassified) Professional Research Assistant position.

Nature of Work:

A professional research assistant is being sought to oversee grant-funded clinical research at Children’s Hospital Colorado in the area of cystic fibrosis related diabetes. The position will involve participant recruitment and retention, scheduling study visits, overseeing participant visits in the Clinical and Translational Research Center and administering study assessments, database management, study regulatory requirements, and administrative duties. Opportunities for this position include:

  • (1) direct interaction with children/adolescents and families;
  • (2) training in a wide range of assessments for diabetes screening; 
  • (3) and potential for authorship on scientific abstracts, publications, and presentations. This opening is currently for a three-year position, but there may be an opportunity for continuation after that time, subject to on performance and funding.
This opening is currently for a two-year position, but there may be an opportunity for continuation after that time, dependent on performance and funding.

Examples of Work Performed: 

  • Screen, recruit, and consent study particpants and familes
  • Research database maintenance and data entry
  • Oversee particpant visits in the pediatric Clinical Translational Research Center
  • Administer and conduct study assessments with participants
  • Conduct follow-ups with participants over the phone and/or a virtual platform
  • Assist PI with scientific abstracts, publications, and presentations as requested
  • Handle, process, and store biological specimens
  • Conduct study assessments and questionnaires with participants
  • Assist with participant retention
  • Assist with documentation of regulatory compliance (including certifications, COMIRB training, etc)
  • Manage expenses associated with the grant
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates may be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents
  • Minimum of 6 months of research experience
    • Note: education experience will apply to the 6 months of required experience
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to successfully pass a 10-panel drug test
  • Must be willing and able to successfully pass a national criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous clinical research experience
  • Experience with computer applications, spreadsheet and database software such as Excel and REDCap strongly preferred
  • Experience with diabetes-related technology (ex. Insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors)
Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a collaborative team
