The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children, adolescents, and their families in Outpatient clinics at the Anschutz Medical Campus and/or at one of the Children’s Hospital of Colorado Networks of Care.

Please note, this is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents by developing and implementing treatment and intervention plans and conducting needs assessment to gather patient information.Provides crisis intervention to families and provides interventions with families to support discharge to home and stabilization.  Also develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families to assist with psychological problems.Completes diagnostic behavioral health assessments for treatment or crisis intervention.  Compiles and analyzes data and prepares case records, reports, and documents that comply with state and federal standards in providing case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations. Collaborates with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unit safety and serves as a liaison with multi-disciplinary care teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor treatment goals. Presents case presentations and provides consultation to medical teams and callers. Coordinates admissions to programs within the Pediatric Mental Health Institute or community programs and coordinates treatment with internal and external services.Leads, monitors, evaluates, and collaborates educational and therapeutic groups for patients; participates in clinical rounds and maintains communication with unit or department leadership. Attends educational in-services for Behavioral Health CliniciansParticipates in unit committees and educational offerings; complies with all policies and procedures related to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and the hospital; and provides customer service as related to the Mental Health field
Salary and Benefits:

Instructor/Senior Instructor: The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $58,000 to $80,000.

This represents the 25-50 percentile of the salary range which is reflective of a candidate with 1-7 years of experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work or related field.
  • 2 years in a mental health setting/agency
  • Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: LPC and/or LCSW

Senior Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: LPC and/or LCSW

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Clinical skill is required for conducting brief and targeted assessments in integrated care settingsAbility to work effectively as part of a team and independently.Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations to community audiences.Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
