Research Associate II - Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center

Requirements

The Research Associate II conducts experiments elucidating changes in protein glycosylation in cancer diseases. Primary responsibilities include cell culture including primary cell cultures, handling of patient blood and tumor samples and their repositories, protein expression and purification, gene expression analysis, and optimization of cell based and protein activity assays.

  • Processing of patient tissues and extraction of analytes for further analyses
  • Writing of methods and results, preparation of sections of manuscripts


Administration
  • Preparation of reports
  • Maintenance of instrumentation
  • Ordering


The Research Associate II interacts with other laboratory team members including junior research faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students, and research assistants. This person reports to Dr. Goldman who reports to Dr. Weiner, Chair of the Department of Oncology, Director, LCCC.

Qualifications
  • MS degree in Biochemistry or a related discipline and at least 3-5 years of hands on lab experience.
  • Fully proficient in in written and spoken English including preparation of sections of manuscripts.
  • Possesses outstanding communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.


Preferred:
  • Up to 10 years of hands on lab experience, preferred.
