The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting for a temporary Data Visualization Specialist with knowledge of Tableau to assist with a COVID-19 related Dashboard project.

The Data Visualization Specialist will complete work on several time-sensitive COVID-19 related data visualization projects for the Cecil G. Sheps Center.

The Data Visualization Specialist will conduct requirements gathering sessions to determine project priorities, data visualization use cases, as well specific features to include in visualization design. They will be expected to build prototypes and present to a large consortium of epidemiology faculty, community stakeholders, and other related health care researchers. From the feedback gathered during these sessions, the Data Visualization Specialist will be expected to iterate on their design and prototypes until a final product is developed that meets the needs of the project.

Person should be well experienced with Tableau, public health data, and health policy. They will also be expected to train other programmers in the use of Tableau. This person will work independently and will receive guidance from the Deputy Director of IT at Sheps.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree and 1-2 years of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience. Will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience with public health research, Tableau, and demonstrated experience communicating and presenting to large groups of people.
