Adjunct Instructor/ Adjunct Lecturer

The Department of East Asian Languages & Literatures is searching for an Adjunct Instructor/ Adjunct Lecturer to teach a Japanese language course.

Teaching load is one course per semester. The successful candidate should closely work with the director of the Japanese language program, and be able to offer proficiency-based language instruction at all levels, and demonstrate professional level proficiency in Japanese and English. The successful candidate also develops and implements course content and assessment plan.


Candidates must have a Masters degree (Instructor title) or Ph D (Lecturer title) in East Asian Languages & Cultures, Asian Studies, Japanese Studies, or related field. Preference will be given to individuals with a specialization in teaching Japanese and who demonstrate the ability to teach all levels of Japanese typically offered in U.S. universities, commitment to language teaching and curriculum innovation, interest in innovative usage of teaching technology, and experiences of organizing curriculum-related activities.


The proposed start date is January 1, 2021 with service dates of January 1, 2021 – May 15, 2021. The position is renewable yearly based on funding and strong performance reviews. Renewed appointments will be on a 9 month service basis (Aug 16- May 15).
