The marketing and communications specialist for Rice Business wears multiple hats and actively contributes to the strategy and execution of marketing across channels – email, social media, paid media, website and more. In particular, this role manages article creation within the website and Rice Business Wisdom newsletters, oversees our social media presence, contributes to social paid advertising plans, and helps with content curation as well as analytics to understand effectiveness of our marketing.

This role will work directly with the executive director and the rest of the Marketing and Communication team to implement marketing strategies for the school. The environment is fast-paced and fun. The individual who is a perfect fit will always jump in to aid the team when projects arise. This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain foundational experience across all aspects of Marketing and Communication.

- Experience in writing, designing, and coordinating the production of digital communication and marketing materials
- Managing social media accounts for corporate or non-profit organization
- Experience in creating and implementing social media paid and organic content
- Experience in tracking and reporting on social media with the use of Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Analytics

Internal / External Contacts

Internal Contacts: The incumbent works with faculty, staff and occasionally students in person, on the phone and by email. S/he collaborates across campus with Public Affairs as needed.

External Contacts: The incumbent works with vendors and contract employees via phone and computer.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer (up to eight hours)

Working Conditions

Open cubicle in an open environment office; fast-paced, deadline-heavy atmosphere

- Participates in the development of the digital communication and brand strategy for a program(s), department or unit
- Writes, designs, and coordinates the production of digital communication and marketing materials
- Recommends integrated communications and / or marketing plans to meet objectives
- Assists in building and / or maintaining a digital community through social media channels, blogs and the web
- Assists in the design and development of graphics and web pages
- Drafts content used to engage constituents and grow channels
- Curates digital content
- Implements social listening efforts and reports back to management
- Provides customer service to constituents across digital channels
- Represents the organization to constituents
- Compiles data, analyzes and reports metrics
- Performs all other duties as assigned
