Job Description

Note: This is a grant funded position. Funding may not be renewed causing the position to end.

Provide comprehensive leadership and management of manufacturing programming at all CSN campuses and off-site locations. This position will oversee from start-to-finish the Advanced Manufacturing WINN & CSN Expansion initiative. The position will require working closely with internal staff, manufacturing partners and Chamber offices to determine current manufacturing employment needs in southern Nevada. Incumbent will be expected to regularly attend college campus events and community events to publicize Division's manufacturing offerings. Incumbent will also work in partnership with all DWED's program directors, coordinators/ leadership teams; in addition, perform other duties as assigned by the DWED Executive Director.

This position is responsible for:

Program Management and Strategic Planning
  • Coordinate, facilitate and supervise CSN Manufacturing workforce pathways, collaborate with credit academic programs, and employer partnerships for all CSN College Campuses and off-site locations.
  • Recruit, screen and select Program Instructors and Lab Technicians.
  • Develop local and statewide industry partnerships.
  • Establish, implement, and oversee industry advisory committees.
  • Collaborate with CSN Division of Workforce and Economic Development Training faculty and staff at CSN campuses to ensure consistency of credit and non-credit programming.
  • Create and contribute to a positive work environment through intentional communications.
  • Steer curriculum development and updates through industry advisory collaboration.
  • Lead the selection, implementation, scheduling and implementation of curriculum, equipment, and instructors.
  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate instructor performance.
  • Maintain, record, and provide required reports of institutional and oversight funds.
  • Ensure program courses/curriculum, as well as certifications are regularly reviewed, maintained and current to the Eligibility Training Provider List (ETPL) through local Workforce Board, based on labor market information.
  • Maintain and participate in required continuing education related to industry standards, professional development, national trends, best practices, projected hiring needs and industry certification.
  • Responsible for oversight of program equipment and inventory, supply and maintenance of consumables, curriculum, books, and labs.


Recruitment and Community Engagement
  • Actively participate with any Regional Manufacturing or Industry cambers, associations, or alliances statewide.
  • Research and identify potential new opportunities and outreach initiatives in target areas.
  • Develop and implement innovative advanced manufacturing seminars, Demonstrations (face to face and online), and tours.
  • Manage and implement a robust communications plan engaging and informing key constituents and partners.
  • Cultivate and expand strong partnerships with area manufacturers and high schools.
  • Collaborate with the DWED Director for Marketing and Communications for Workforce Development and Community Services to create advertising and marketing materials as needed.
  • Represent College of Southern Nevada program at approved events and recruitment opportunities (travel required).
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for the DWED.


Budget
  • Process budgeted expenses according to established CSN policies and procedures.
  • Foster and initiate financial support through grant funding opportunities.
  • Oversee budget requests and revenue generation.
  • Implement strategic reserve funds for update and expansion of all existing or future programs.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related field from an accredited college/university, 4 years of experience in manufacturing or manufacturing education AND 4 years of supervisory experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business, engineering/ or industry certifications.
  • Prior experience in advanced manufacturing maintenance, engineering, and skilled trades to include electrical, fluid power, automation controls, CNC machining, robotics, manufacturing design, or design engineering.
  • Ability to maintain orderly work environment, overall organizational skills.
  • Quick learning, ability to mentally organize, suggest immediate and long-range solutions for all issues.
  • Experience working with diverse clientele of adult learners.
  • Proficient in any digital environment, internet applications, Microsoft Office-Pro suite, and student information systems.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
