Assistant Professor of Evolutionary and Developmental Biology

Governors State University seeks applications for an Evolutionary and Developmental Biology assistant professor position in the undergraduate Biology and graduate Biology programs in the Division of Science, Mathematics and Technology, College of Arts and Sciences. The position is available August 2021 or until filled. This position is full time and tenure-track. The preferred candidate should demonstrate strong potential to teach our capstone course in Evolution and courses in her/his area of expertise at the upper division and MS level in Developmental Biology, Embryology or related area. The candidate will also contribute to the Junior Year Seminar and may teach lower division coursework for incoming Biology majors or non-majors. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research and mentor research students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to those individuals dedicated to teaching and mentoring women, first generation university students, non-traditional students, and students of color in the sciences; and showing good potential for publishing and procuring grants. Those working with model organisms, and who use molecular techniques are encouraged to apply. The Biology programs offered include bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Biology Teacher Education, and master’s degree in Biology. Successful applicants will have an earned Ph.D. in the biological sciences or a closely related field; candidates in ABD status will be considered.
