Description:

The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Pathologist faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level (tenure track or non-tenure, clinical track). 

Primary responsibilities will involve clinical service in the UFHealth Shands Hospital Core laboratory and the Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine’s UFHealth Pathology Laboratories, eventually acting as Medical Director for UFHealth Pathology Laboratories.

The University of Florida/Shands Health Care affiliated institutions present a rich diversity of inpatient and outpatient clinical material. The successful applicant will contribute to medical student, resident and fellowship training in accredited programs within Pathology. Scholarly study and investigation in the applicant’s area of interest is expected. Rank and salary are negotiable, commensurate with experience.


Qualifications:

Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent with experience in clinical pathology and the ability to direct a CLIA lab. Should be board certified or eligible in Pathology or other appropriate specialty board and possess or be eligible for a Florida medical license. The applicant should possess extensive knowledge and experience primarily in clinical chemistry, hematology, hemostasis and analysis of hemoglobinopathies. Published research in chemistry, hematology and coagulation and familiarity with analytical techniques such as mass spectroscopy and experience in laboratory leadership are highly desirable.
