Minimum Qualifications:

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (biochemistry or biology) and two years of undergraduate experience or equivalent combination preferred. Undergraduate research experience including operation of basic lab equipment. Experience with mammalian cell culture and protein expression and purification. Work well with others and self-motivated to work with minimal supervision also preferred.

Position Summary:

Will assist and perform different laboratory tasks, including Plasmodium falciparum and mammalian cell in vitro cultures, and carry out basic molecular biology and biochemical experiments.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Molecular biology and biochemical experience.
Mammalian cell culture and BSL2 containment experience.
Computer competency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience with mammalian cell culture and protein expression and purification.

Physical Demands:

Will stand, walk and work in Biosafety cabinets for long periods of times (2-3 h).

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist lab personnel with their ongoing projects as well as work on individual assignments. Duties will include drug screenings, in vitro resistance selection, prepare reagents, maintenance of Plasmodium falciparum cultures.
