A master's degree is required. The Director of Residence Life (DRL) serves as a full time, live-in professional for several university housing units, with a primary purpose of supporting and aiding in the University's aim to help students become, "men and women for others". Personal development of students is of the utmost importance in this role. The DRL works in collaboration with campus partners to coordinate and assist in the management and development of students' residential living and learning environments. The DRL must be able to support and promote the University's inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, its diverse student population, and its academic programming in liberal arts and professional education and encourage staff in this regards.Oversees all aspects of the residence life program. Responsible for creating a vibrant residential culture for undergraduate students, graduate students, and international students. This position requires a dynamic individual with excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, a keen understanding of college student development and strong administrative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Leads a residential education program tied to the strategic plan. Will include a focus on student leadership, cross-cultural exchange for a globalized student experience, practices in sustainability, residential satisfaction and retention and residential programming that is grounded in our Catholic mission; assists Vice President of Student Services or designee with Student Leadership programs; assists in developing and supporting Living-Learning Communities within the residence halls; works closely with other Student Services departments to create an engaging and vibrant student experience.Oversees the Residence Life Operations. Will develop and oversee departmental operations budget; maintains an awareness of building conditions, safety and security, furnishings and other equipment; works closely with physical plant personnel to ensure facilities are well maintained; uses on-line database to report and monitor progress on facilities concerns; coordinates staff to provide and ensure emergency on call coverage 24/7 as well as serve on the rotation; coordinates with Conference and Event Services during the summer months to accommodate contracted groups in residence halls; oversees on-line housing process and room assignments; manages overall occupancy and consolidation; oversees student staff hiring, training and supervision; trains and supervises entry-level staff, supervises staff member serving as primary contact for diversity and inclusion initiatives; and serves as Chief Conduct Officer, overseeing the use of on-line conduct system and training Conduct Officers to adjudicate lower-level conduct cases.Supports the University. Will represent Residence Life on campus with other departments and faculty; serves on various division and campus-wide committees as appropriate; and serves as Division liaison to the Office of Public Safety, Facilities, and the University Safety Committee. This position does require the individual to live on campus within a residence hall. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling or a closely related field.Three years’ experience in residence life administration required.
